RTL à la demande expands to 3 industrial parks

Longueuil, February 7, 2022 – Starting Monday, February 14, the Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) will expand its RTL à la demande service to the Longueuil, Lavoisier and Edison industrial parks, in Longueuil and Boucherville, on either side of Autoroute 20. This sector is home to over 800 businesses that employ more than 30,000 people. This is a first in Québec for an industrial park of this size.

To simplify travel throughout the territory, the RTL is proposing an innovative solution that combines the advantages of public transit with the evolving needs of residents and workers in the Agglomération de Longueuil.

Introduced for the first time anywhere in Canada as a pilot project in parts of Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville in 2019, this new “micro-transit” service draws on the power of cellular and app-based technologies to offer a new travel option. Using the app or with a simple phone call, users can call a taxi—for the same price as a regular public transit fare.

Details of the announcement

• This RTL initiative is just one of the measures developed jointly with the Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain (ARTM) and the Transports Québec to offer drivers sustainable mobility alternatives amidst the work on the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Bridge-Tunnel.
• The service is available everywhere within the Longueuil/Lavoisier/Edison industrial parks, from Monday to Friday, except holidays, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
• Reservations can be made through the RTL à la demande mobile app (available from the App Store and Google Play) or by calling 450-463-0131
• The preferred pickup (morning) and drop-off (evening) points are:
  a) Touraine park-and-ride lot;
  b) Mortagne park-and-ride lot;
  c) Bus stop at the corner of rue de la Barre and boulevard Marie-Victorin.
