RECONFIGURATION OF THE DE MORTAGNE PARKING LOT AND OPENING OF THE DE MORTAGNE RESERVED LANE

Longueuil, December 18, 2019 - The Réseau de transport de Longueuil is announcing that the De Mortagne park-and-ride lot, on rue Ampère in Boucherville, is now open for business.

“We’re proud to support projects that encourage people to adopt efficient, environmentally friendly methods of transportation and that will help ensure a prosperous, low-carbon future for our communities,” stated The Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities. “The reconfiguration of the De Mortagne parking lot is just one of many projects that contribute to building healthy communities across the country. Investing in sustainable transit solutions will allow people to spend less time on the roads and more time with their loved ones.”

“Our government supports the RTL in offering attractive alternatives to South Shore residents ahead of the major work planned for this sector, in particular on the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Bridge-Tunnel. Innovative projects like this one are how we will convince more people to opt for public transit for their daily commute,” said Chantal Rouleau, Minister for Transport and Minister Responsible for the Metropolis and the Montréal Region.

“Inspired by best practices in ecologically sustainable development, this parking lot features permeable pavement and retention infrastructure for greener management of stormwater runoff. This space is currently surrounded by a green belt. Landscaping work will also take place in the parking lot next spring to complete the project,” stated Jonathan Tabarah, Chairman of the RTL Board of Directors.

Users will have access to 126 parking spaces, including two spaces for individuals with reduced mobility, and new bicycle racks. Appropriate lighting will also be installed.

Phase 2 — construction of a bus terminal

During a second phase carried out by the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ) in 2020, this parking lot will become a bus terminal equipped with new bus shelters. The number of parking spaces will also be increased in light of the work on the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Bridge-Tunnel.

This project is made possible through an investment by the federal and provincial governments as part of the Public Transit Infrastructure Fund. We also thank the city of Boucherville for its collaboration on this project.

De Mortagne reserved lane

Our users will be pleased to hear that the reserved lane on boulevard De Mortagne in Boucherville, between boulevards Industriel and Volta, is now up and running.

“This represents one more step in making the RTL’s Réseau rapide d'agglomération a reality. We’re happy we introduce measure like this one to continually speed up our users’ travel time,” added Mr. Tabarah.
