Bus des îles: great first weekend!

Longueuil, July 26, 2017

– Last weekend’s launch of the Réseau de transport de Longueuil’s (RTL) free shuttle service to the Longueuil municipal beach and the Parc national des Îles de Boucherville was a huge success.

Ville de Longueuil, Tourisme Montérégie, and SÉPAQ all collaborated on the project, which, during its first weekend, provided transit to nearly 600 citizens, including numerous young families, in only two days. Given the popularity of the service, the RTL had to increase the number of shuttles on Saturday and Sunday to meet the high demand.

“We are thrilled with how popular this new service is. The goal of the pilot project is to provide citizens with free and easy access to these two very popular summer destinations. The residents of the Agglomération de Longueuil turned out in force for the inaugural weekend, as did the sun, and we hope this continues for the rest of the summer!” stated Michel Veilleux, Executive Director of the RTL.

A reminder that residents can use the free shuttle service every weekend until September 4, 2017, to get from the Longueuil terminal directly to the Longueuil municipal beach and the entrance to the Parc national des Îles-de-Boucherville. Shuttles will run hourly starting at 9:45 a.m. (first departure from the Longueuil terminal). The full schedule is available on the Îles de-Bourcherville website.
